New rules for MP attendance and penalties for absence
The resolution changes the rules for confirming the presence of Members of Parliament at Sejm and committee meetings. It introduces new, stricter financial penalties for unjustified absences, including the possibility of a significant reduction in salary and loss of parliamentary allowance in case of long-term absence.
Key points
Presence at a Sejm sitting is confirmed by signature or participation in at least 4/5 of votes.
Unjustified absence from a Sejm or committee meeting may result in a reduction of salary and parliamentary allowance.
In case of more than 3 days of unjustified absence from a Sejm sitting in a month, financial penalties are higher.
Long-term, unjustified absence (18 sitting days) may result in loss of allowance and reduction of salary to 1/10.
Information on deductions from MPs' salaries is public.
