Better Heart Care: New Hospital Network and Faster Access to Cardiologists
This law establishes a nationwide network of facilities specializing in heart disease treatment (National Cardiology Network). For patients, this means easier and faster access to cardiologists through a new electronic Cardiology Care Card, which will eliminate the need for traditional referrals and allow for separate waiting lists.
Key points
New Cardiology Care Card (e-KOK): Starting January 1, 2028, this will become mandatory and replace traditional referrals, providing heart disease patients with a faster treatment path and separate queues for specialists.
Patient Coordinator: Level II and III centers will appoint a coordinator to guide patients through the entire treatment process and ensure continuity of care.
Nationwide Hospital Network: A three-level network of cardiology centers will be created. Their quality will be regularly monitored, and facilities achieving target quality indicators will receive higher funding (corrective coefficients).
Public Quality Reports: Every center in the network must publish an annual report on the quality of its care, allowing patients to verify the level of treatment.
