New Digital IDs for Volunteer Firefighters and Rescue Benefit Recipients

This law introduces digital identification cards for Volunteer Firefighters (OSP) and individuals receiving rescue benefits. This will make it easier for them to access their entitlements and benefits. Existing IDs will only be valid for 6 months after the new regulations come into force.
Key points
Introduction of digital IDs in the mObywatel application for OSP firefighters and rescue benefit recipients.
The ID will include basic identification data, PESEL number, photo, and information about the OSP unit.
Applications for ID issuance are submitted to the mayor (or city president), who enters the data into a central register.
The Minister of Internal Affairs will maintain the ID register, with the possibility of delegating this task to the Chief Commander of the State Fire Service.
Current IDs remain valid for a maximum of 6 months from the effective date of the new regulations.
