Broader firearms powers for border protection

The bill expands the authority to use firearms for soldiers, police officers, and border guards when protecting the state border. It also changes first aid rules for injured persons at the border and specifies when the military may operate on Polish territory in peacetime.
Key points
Police and border guards will be able to use firearms at any attempt to breach the border – currently they must wait for additional threats.
Soldiers will receive broader authority to use weapons during military operations at the border.
Officers will not be required to provide first aid to injured persons if it would require crossing the border – notifying neighboring country services will suffice.
Military operations in Poland during peacetime will only be allowed in strictly defined situations: threat to the border, critical infrastructure, or people's safety.
