More Rector's Scholarships for High-Achieving Students
New regulations aim to make it easier for universities to award Rector's scholarships to high-achieving students. The method of calculating the scholarship fund limit is changing, which may increase the number of students receiving them, regardless of the number of students receiving social scholarships. The law will come into force on January 1, 2026.
Key points
Universities will be able to allocate up to 40% of scholarship fund resources to Rector's scholarships, calculated from the total subsidy for student benefits.
Currently, the limit for Rector's scholarships is linked to expenditures on social scholarships and emergency aid, which restricted the ability to reward top students in universities with a small number of students needing social support.
The change is intended to make it more flexible for universities to manage scholarship funds and potentially increase the number of students receiving scholarships for academic results, scientific, artistic, or sports achievements.
