Easier Vehicle Registration: Online Applications, Old Plates, and New Deadlines

The draft act introduces simplifications in vehicle registration, enabling the submission of applications electronically and the retention of existing license plates. The deadline for submitting an application in the case of inheritance has been extended, and exemptions from the registration obligation have been provided for situations such as theft, permanent loss of possession, or sale of the vehicle before the deadline.
Key points
You will be able to submit a vehicle registration application electronically, including via the mObywatel app.
You will have the option to keep the existing registration number and plates if you submit a statement regarding their proper condition.
The deadline for submitting an application for registering a vehicle acquired through inheritance will be extended to 60 days from the final court ruling or certificate of inheritance.
The registration obligation (and associated penalties) will not apply to vehicles that are stolen, permanently lost, or sold before the statutory deadline.
Registration authorities will download data for vehicles imported from the EU directly from foreign databases, streamlining verification.
