Education Reform: New Curricula, Digitalization, and Exam Changes from 2026

This act introduces fundamental changes to Polish education, replacing the current curricula with a new approach based on learning outcomes. For students and parents, this means a gradual introduction of new textbooks and assessment rules from the 2026/2027 school year, as well as new optional classes. Supervision of schools and management of youth educational centers will also be digitized.
Key points
New core curriculum: Starting from the 2026/2027 school year, teaching will focus on 'expected learning outcomes' rather than just transmitting knowledge.
Digitalization of supervision and management: A central online platform will be created to monitor schools' work, along with a system for managing youth educational centers.
Optional classes: Students will be able to participate in new, non-compulsory classes, from which they can resign at any time.
Changes to exams: The eighth-grade exam and the Matura (final secondary school exam) will be adapted to the new core curriculum. The rules for retaking the Matura are also changing (5-year limit).
Support for employers: The rules for granting subsidies to companies for training juvenile workers have been updated.
Long-term financial plan: The act sets specific spending limits for educational tasks from the state budget for the years 2026-2035.
New rules for teachers: The process of awarding the honorary title of Professor of Education has been modified.
