Harsher Penalties for Sexual Exploitation of Dependent Persons
This bill significantly increases penalties for sexual acts obtained through abuse of dependence or exploitation of a critical situation. The changes aim to better protect citizens' sexual autonomy, especially children and those dependent on figures of authority, by eliminating the possibility of lenient sentences.
Key points
Penalties for sexual acts obtained through abuse of dependence will increase from a maximum of 3 years to 1 to 10 years imprisonment.
For such acts committed against minors, penalties will rise from 3 months-5 years to 2-15 years imprisonment.
A new, stricter penalty (3 to 20 years imprisonment) is introduced for perpetrators abusing special trust or authority (e.g., doctors, teachers, clergy, superiors).
Raising the minimum sentence will prevent conditional suspension of sentences, ensuring perpetrators face real accountability.
