Changes to credit rules for farmers: easier access to financing

The draft law aims to restore previous rules for granting credits and loans to farmers. The changes are intended to facilitate farmers' access to business financing and public programs, removing problems introduced at the beginning of 2024.
Key points
Farmers will no longer be automatically treated as consumers when taking out credits related to agricultural activity, which is intended to reduce costs and bureaucracy.
Rules regarding maximum non-interest costs for loans and protection against unfair contract terms will still partially protect farmers.
The new rules will also apply to agreements concluded from January 7, 2024, until the day this law comes into effect.
The law is expected to come into effect 14 days after its announcement to quickly resolve current issues with agricultural financing.
