Faster court review of appeals against denial of defense counsel in investigations
This law introduces a 7-day deadline for courts to review appeals against a prosecutor's decision to deny a defense counsel access to an investigation. Until the court's final decision, the prosecutor can only proceed without the counsel in urgent cases or when required by a significant interest of the investigation. The law also applies to pending appeals.

A district court now has 7 days to review an appeal against a prosecutor's denial of a defense counsel's participation in an investigation.
The prosecutor's denial decision becomes enforceable only after it becomes final, i.e., after a possible court review of the appeal.
Until the decision is final, the prosecutor can act without the defense counsel only in urgent cases or when required by a significant interest of the investigation.
The new rules also apply to appeals that were filed but not yet decided before the law came into effect.
