Changes in health program financing and rights of Ukrainian medical staff

The act modifies how the National Health Fund finances health policy programs, introduces new rules for covering treatment costs for infectious diseases for uninsured persons, and extends by one year the deadline for Ukrainian doctors and nurses working in Poland to submit Polish language proficiency documents.
Key points
The National Health Fund will finance the health minister's health programs: purchases of medicines, medical devices and services within these programs.
Treatment costs for infections and infectious diseases for uninsured persons will be covered from the state budget.
Doctors and nurses from Ukraine have until May 1, 2027 to submit documents confirming Polish language proficiency – the previous deadline was May 1, 2026.
Those who missed the previous deadline will not lose their right to practice their profession.
