Prison Service Modernization Program 2022-2025 – 2025 Summary

In 2025, the multi-year modernization program of the Polish Prison Service was completed. Over 423 million PLN was spent on improving security, purchasing new equipment and vehicles, thermal modernization of buildings, and salary increases for officers and civilian staff. For citizens, this means enhanced internal security and better conditions in prisons.

26.1 million PLN spent on improving prison security, including the purchase of 3,700 pistols, 855 bulletproof vests, and 618 helmets.
20.4 million PLN allocated for the purchase of 11 prison vans, 20 operational-escort vehicles, and 14 cars for electronic monitoring teams.
80.3 million PLN spent on acquiring new accommodation places for inmates and on renovations and infrastructure modernization in 43 completed projects.
152.3 million PLN allocated for salary increases for officers (average 374 PLN/month per post) and 8.9 million PLN for raises for civilian employees (average 328 PLN/month).
17.8 million PLN spent on improving energy efficiency, including roof thermal modernization and construction of photovoltaic installations in 19 completed projects.
240 new officers were hired in 2025, with total spending on staffing reinforcement reaching 53.6 million PLN.
