New subsidies for crop and livestock insurance for farmers

The act expands the list of crops eligible for insurance subsidies to include basket willow and seed grasses. It changes how subsidies are calculated and introduces new obligations for insurance companies. Farmers will gain broader protection against drought and other risks.
Key points
New crops with subsidies: basket willow and seed grasses – 65% premium subsidy per 1 ha of crop.
Drought coverage extended to more crops: cereals, rapeseed, potatoes, sugar beets, soybeans, and others.
New subsidy limits: up to 65% of premium if rates do not exceed 15% or 25% of insured value.
Insurance companies must keep contracts with farmers for 10 years from the date of the last contract with a given producer.
Farmers in economic difficulty or with public aid repayment obligations will not receive subsidies.
Lower subsidies if intermediary (distributor) takes more than 3% of premium for fruit trees and strawberry insurance.
