Reclaimed wastewater use in energy sector

The bill allows power plants and combined heat and power plants to use treated municipal wastewater for cooling instead of river water. This new water source will reduce pressure on natural resources and help survive drought periods. Energy companies will need to obtain a special permit and pay a fixed water fee.
