Free assistive equipment for people with disabilities instead of rental

The state is replacing an inefficient equipment rental system for people with disabilities with direct, free transfer of devices. People with disabilities and their families will receive equipment as their own property, reducing storage costs and improving access to assistive technologies.
Key points
End of rental system: equipment goes directly to people with disabilities and their families as permanent property, not for loan.
Budget savings: instead of the previous rental maintenance costs (over 7.3 million PLN in 2023–2025), the state will spend about 18 million PLN in 2027–2028 for equipment handover and preparation, then costs disappear.
Free transfer: recipients pay no taxes or fees when receiving equipment.
Equipment worth 22.6 million PLN: includes wheelchairs, scooters, hearing aids and other assistive devices to be distributed.
Technical check before handover: equipment undergoes inspections and repairs if needed to ensure full functionality.
