Ban on Adoption of Children by Same-Sex Couples

This bill introduces a ban on the adoption of children by individuals who are in a marriage or registered partnership with a person of the same sex, or who cohabit with such a person. This means family courts will not be able to grant adoption to these individuals, directly affecting the rights and family-building possibilities of same-sex couples.
Key points
Individuals married to a same-sex partner (even if the marriage was performed abroad) will be prohibited from adopting a child.
People in a registered same-sex partnership (e.g., in another country) will also lose the right to adopt.
The ban also covers individuals who are simply cohabiting with a same-sex partner.
The new rules apply both to joint adoption by a couple and to the adoption of a partner's child (stepchild adoption).
