New requirements for local government election candidates
This bill introduces a requirement for local government election candidates to submit information from the National Criminal Register instead of a declaration of eligibility. People convicted by a final judgment for an intentional crime prosecuted by public indictment or an intentional tax crime will be banned from becoming commune head (wójt) or members of county and regional boards. The goal is to increase transparency and public trust in local authorities.

People with a final conviction for an intentional crime prosecuted by public indictment or an intentional tax crime will be barred from serving as commune head or on county/regional boards.
County councils and regional assemblies will have 14 days from learning of a board member's final conviction to pass a resolution removing them from office.
The new rules will also apply to early and by-elections held during the term in which the act enters into force.
