Abolition of electoral privileges for national minorities

This bill removes the exemption that allowed electoral committees of national minorities to bypass the 5% national threshold required to enter the Sejm (Polish parliament). From now on, all committees, including those representing minorities, must win at least 5% of the nationwide vote to gain seats. For voters, this means every vote will have equal weight, and no group will have an easier path to parliament.
Key points
Privilege removed: Minority committees lose their exemption from the 5% electoral threshold for the Sejm.
Equal rules for all: All electoral committees must meet the same 5% national vote requirement.
End of preferences: Votes for minority committees that do not cross the threshold will no longer count towards seat allocation.
No financial impact: The bill introduces no new taxes, fees, or state budget expenditures.
