Automatic recognition of higher education diplomas

Poland is joining an international treaty that will automatically recognize higher education diplomas (Bachelor's, Master's, Doctoral) from countries like Belgium, the Netherlands, Lithuania, and Estonia, and vice versa. This means Polish students and graduates will no longer need to go through costly and complex nostrification procedures to continue their studies or work in these countries. For citizens, this means less bureaucracy and easier access to education and the labor market abroad.
Key points
Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees from treaty states will be recognized automatically, without additional procedures.
Polish students and graduates will have easier access to studies and jobs in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
The treaty does not cover the recognition of professional qualifications (e.g., doctors, lawyers) – these will still be governed by separate regulations.
Poland can, in exceptional cases, introduce safeguard measures if automatic recognition of diplomas from another country would cause serious problems for the Polish higher education system.
