Poland-Japan Social Security Agreement: Easier Pensions and No Double Contributions

The new regulations will allow individuals to combine working periods in Poland and Japan when applying for retirement or disability pensions. This ensures that Polish citizens working in Japan and Japanese citizens in Poland do not lose their contributions and can access their benefits more easily.
Key points
Combining working years: Insurance periods from both Poland and Japan will be added together to help meet pension eligibility requirements.
Pension transfer: Polish pensions can be transferred directly to beneficiaries residing in Japan.
No double social security contributions: Posted workers and self-employed individuals will pay contributions in only one country (generally up to 5 years).
Family protection: Spouses and children of workers posted to Japan will be exempt from the mandatory Japanese pension system.
Broad coverage: The agreement covers retirement, disability, and survivor's pensions, as well as funeral grants and work accident benefits.
