Support for Local Products: More Polish Food in Large Stores
The new law aims to increase the availability of local food products in large stores (over 250 m²). This means consumers will have easier access to fresh, regional food, and local farmers and producers will gain greater opportunities to sell their goods. Stores will be required to offer at least two-thirds of products from selected categories (fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, bread) sourced directly from Polish producers, with priority given to suppliers from the immediate vicinity.
Key points
Large stores (over 250 m²) will be required to sell at least two-thirds of fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, and bread from Polish producers, prioritizing suppliers from the county and province.
Stores will be obliged to inform customers about the origin of local products, for example, by displaying the Polish flag.
Educational campaigns promoting local products will be conducted in stores.
Failure to comply with the regulations will result in high financial penalties for stores, up to 10% of annual revenue.
