New Copyright Law: Enhanced Protection for Creators, Platforms, and Digital Media

This act adapts Polish copyright law to digital requirements, introducing new rules for using works online. It strengthens the position of creators and artists, ensuring better remuneration and access to information about the use of their works. It also places greater responsibility on online platforms for user-uploaded content and introduces new rights for press publishers.
Key points
Creators and artists gain the right to regular information about earnings from their works and the ability to demand higher remuneration if it is disproportionately low.
Online platforms (e.g., video, social media services) bear greater responsibility for illegal copyrighted content, but must also provide users with an appeal mechanism against content blocking.
Press publishers receive a new right to remuneration from online platforms for the use of their publications, with 50% of this remuneration going to creators (e.g., journalists).
Educational and cultural institutions (schools, universities, libraries, museums) can more easily use works for didactic, research, and preservation purposes, including "out-of-commerce works."
The possibility of automated text and data analysis (Text and Data Mining) for scientific and general purposes has been introduced, unless explicitly reserved by the creator.
