New Border Control System: Poland Joins the European Entry/Exit Database

The draft act introduces the European Entry/Exit System (EES) in Poland, which will electronically register border crossings by non-EU citizens. This will change border control procedures, replacing manual passport stamping and making it easier to verify the authorized length of stay.
Key points
End of passport stamps: Entry and exit data for non-EU citizens will be stored in a central database, automating the monitoring of stay duration.
Expanded powers for services: Police, Border Guard, and other agencies will gain access to the system's data to more effectively combat crime and illegal migration.
New responsibilities for authorities: The Commander-in-Chief of the Border Guard will be the main authority responsible for the Polish part of the system, including data security.
Personal data protection: Foreigners whose data is in the system will have the right to access, correct, or delete it in justified cases.
Significant investment: A maximum expenditure limit of over PLN 380 million from the state budget has been allocated for the system's implementation and maintenance from 2025 to 2034.
