More electric cars in offices and clean transport zones in cities
New regulations increase the requirement for government offices and local authorities to own electric vehicles. In cities with over 100,000 inhabitants where nitrogen dioxide air pollution is a problem, clean transport zones will be mandatory, which may affect the ability to enter with older cars. The act also introduces changes regarding the purchase of public transport buses in large cities, promoting zero-emission vehicles.
Key points
Central government offices and local authorities (over 50,000 inhabitants) must have at least 22% electric vehicles in their fleet.
Cities with over 100,000 inhabitants and exceeded nitrogen dioxide levels will have to introduce clean transport zones.
In cities with over 100,000 inhabitants, new public transport buses must be zero-emission.
Directors of national parks may allow entry of low-emission vehicles for educational or tourist purposes.
