Foreign Service Reform: New Ranks, Retirement Age and Benefits
The act introduces major changes to employment and careers of diplomats. It raises the retirement age to 65 with possibility of extension. Creates a new highest diplomatic rank – titular ambassador. Establishes detailed rules for foreign allowances, family benefits and entitlements for work in dangerous regions. Also introduces asset declaration obligations for a broad group of foreign service employees.
