New rules for construction and demolition waste segregation and financial support
Starting from January 1, 2025, new regulations on segregating waste from construction and renovation will be in effect. Individuals and companies will have to separate specific materials like wood or metal. The law also allows for state budget co-financing of waste management activities until the end of 2027.
Key points
Mandatory segregation of construction and demolition waste (wood, metals, glass, plastics, gypsum, mineral waste) for companies and individuals undertaking construction/renovation work.
Individuals who are not entrepreneurs can transfer the segregation obligation to the next waste holder.
Possibility to outsource segregation to specialized companies based on a written agreement.
Joint responsibility for segregation rests with the waste producer, the subsequent holder, and the company contracted for the service.
State budget co-financing for local governments for waste management activities until the end of 2027, up to 99% of costs.
The state budget expenditure limit for co-financing in 2025-2027 is 300 million PLN annually.
In case of high utilization of funds, co-financing may be limited.
