Workplace Accommodations for Pregnant and Postpartum Workers

This new law aims to ensure reasonable workplace accommodations for employees affected by pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions. Employers will be required to provide these accommodations unless doing so would cause undue hardship to their business operations. The act seeks to protect women from discrimination and job loss due to pregnancy.
Key points
Employers must provide reasonable accommodations for pregnant workers, those who have recently given birth, or those with related medical conditions, unless it causes undue hardship.
It is forbidden to deny employment, force leave, or take negative actions against an employee due to pregnancy or a request for accommodation.
Employees covered by the act will have access to legal remedies and enforcement procedures similar to those in existing anti-discrimination laws.
