More Career Training Choices: Pell Grants for New Programs

This act expands the Federal Pell Grant program, allowing students to use these funds for vocational training programs previously not covered. The goal is to increase access to vocational education and better prepare young people for the job market, regardless of whether the program is accredited or not.
Key points
Pell Grants now available for new vocational training programs, even those without accreditation.
Programs must exist for at least 5 years and have an annual cost equal to or less than the maximum Pell Grant.
Program eligibility will be assessed based on student success metrics, such as program completion and job placement.
Programs may lose eligibility if completion or employment rates fall below specified thresholds.
