Veterans Support: New Diseases Covered for Benefits

This act expands the list of diseases automatically presumed to be service-connected for veterans exposed to herbicides in Vietnam. This means veterans suffering from these conditions will have easier access to benefits. Additionally, costs will not be considered when making benefit decisions, and the decision-making process will be expedited.
Key points
New diseases like prostate cancer, heart disease, and hypertension will be added to the list of conditions automatically presumed service-connected for Vietnam veterans.
Decisions on benefit claims cannot be influenced by the cost to the government.
The timeframe for making benefit decisions will be shortened to 120 days, and the scientific basis for decisions will be more detailed.
