Tuition Fairness for Veteran Survivors and Dependents

This act aims to ensure that children and spouses of deceased or disabled veterans pay the same, lower in-state tuition rates at public colleges. If a college fails to apply this rule, it will lose the ability to enroll students receiving federal educational assistance for veteran families. These changes will take effect on August 1, 2022.
Key points
Public colleges must offer in-state tuition rates to children and spouses of veterans eligible for educational benefits.
Colleges that do not comply will be unable to enroll students using the Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance Program.
The changes aim to reduce education costs for eligible veteran families.
