Registry for Veterans Exposed to PFAS Substances on Military Installations.

This Act mandates the Department of Veterans Affairs to establish and maintain a registry for service members and veterans potentially exposed to harmful PFAS substances (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) used in firefighting foams (AFFF) on military installations. The goal is to monitor the health effects of this exposure and keep affected individuals informed about developments in research and treatment. Citizens who served in these locations will gain a tool for tracking potential health issues.
Key points
Establishment of a dedicated health registry for service members and veterans exposed to PFAS on military bases to facilitate health monitoring.
The VA must launch a public information campaign to inform eligible individuals about the registry, registration process, and its benefits.
Veterans will be periodically notified of significant scientific developments in the study and treatment of conditions associated with PFAS exposure.
Requirement for regular reports to Congress assessing data collection effectiveness and providing recommendations for medical care for exposed individuals.
