Addiction Treatment Support: New Tools for Doctors

This act establishes a pilot program to help doctors more quickly refer patients with addiction issues to appropriate treatment facilities. When a doctor identifies signs of substance misuse, they will be able to more easily find and suggest treatment options. The goal is to improve access to help and reduce drug overdose deaths.

The pilot program will include up to 5 states with high rates of drug overdose deaths.
Facilitating patient referrals to treatment and monitoring their engagement, while protecting data privacy.
Increasing the availability of information on current capacity at inpatient and outpatient treatment resources.
