Support for Military Spouses: Continued Benefits After Remarriage

This act aims to ensure that surviving spouses of deceased military members continue to receive benefits, such as survivor annuities and dependency and indemnity compensation, even if they remarry. It also applies to those who remarried before the act's effective date, restoring their eligibility for these benefits.
Key points
Surviving spouses of military members who died in the line of duty will not lose their survivor annuity upon remarriage.
Individuals who remarried before age 55 and before the act's enactment date will have their survivor annuity payments resumed.
Surviving spouses of veterans will not lose dependency and indemnity compensation upon remarriage, even if they remarried before age 57 and before the act's enactment date.
