Transfer of Antitrust Enforcement from FTC to Department of Justice

This act transfers all antitrust enforcement functions from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to the Department of Justice. The goal is to streamline antitrust efforts, reduce taxpayer waste, and provide more certainty for businesses and consumers. For citizens, this means that matters concerning fair competition will be handled by a single, primary government agency.
Key points
All FTC antitrust functions, employees, assets, and funding will be transferred to the Department of Justice.
The Department of Justice will become the sole agency responsible for enforcing antitrust laws, aiming to eliminate overlapping jurisdictions.
FTC antitrust employees will be transferred to the Department of Justice, maintaining their grade and compensation for one year.
The Department of Justice will also gain sole authority to review the competitive impact of communications transactions, previously shared with the Federal Communications Commission and state entities.
