Easier access to benefits for families of deceased officers and for individuals injured while acting outside their jurisdiction but in an emergency capacity.
Introduction of new definitions for catastrophic injuries, including blindness, paraplegia, and quadriplegia, to facilitate benefit qualification.
Allows 9/11 responders to file new claims or have previously denied claims re-evaluated.
Strengthens the Bureau's authority to expedite claim processing and obtain necessary information, including through subpoenas.
