Ending Speculative Oil and Gas Leasing on Public Lands

This act aims to stop the leasing of public lands for oil and gas extraction that have little to no real potential. This will prevent taxpayer money from being wasted on managing such leases, allowing these lands to be better utilized for recreation, conservation, and other public purposes. Citizens will have a greater say in decisions regarding the use of these areas.
Key points
Prohibits leasing public lands with low or no oil and gas development potential, saving taxpayer money.
Emphasizes using public lands for recreation, environmental protection, and other purposes, rather than speculative leases.
Requires assessing the development potential of lands before leasing and regular updates of these assessments.
