This act aims to ensure priority access to testing, personal protective equipment, and vaccinations for employees crucial to infrastructure operations, such as transportation. This is intended to help maintain the continuity of essential services for citizens' daily lives, even in the face of pandemics or other health crises. These provisions also apply to future crisis situations.
Key points
Transportation workers and other critical infrastructure employees will receive priority access to COVID-19 testing.
Priority access to masks, sanitizers, and other protective supplies will be ensured for these workers.
Critical infrastructure employees will have priority access to COVID-19 vaccinations, based on availability.
These provisions do not mean infrastructure workers have higher priority than patients, healthcare workers, or first responders.
The act provides for similar priority actions for transportation workers in future health crises.
