KIA, MIA, POW Acronyms on Veterans' Headstones

New rules allow the inclusion of KIA, MIA, and POW acronyms on veterans' headstones provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs. This enables families of those killed, missing, or held as prisoners of war to honor their service more specifically, without additional text limitations.
Key points
Ability to add KIA (killed in action), MIA (missing in action), and POW (prisoner of war) acronyms to veterans' headstones.
These acronyms will not count towards character or line limits on the headstone, allowing more space for other information.
This change makes it easier for families to commemorate the specific service status of their loved ones.
