Expanded Parental Leave and Support for Servicemembers

This act increases parental leave for servicemembers, including foster caregivers. It also introduces support for servicewomen after miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death, and facilitates their return to duty after childbirth. The changes aim to improve the living conditions of military families.
Key points
Primary caregiver leave for birth or adoption extended from 12 to 18 weeks.
Secondary caregiver leave for birth or adoption extended from 21 days to 12 weeks.
Introduction of 12 weeks of leave for foster caregivers (primary and secondary) in cases of long-term foster child placement.
Parental leave can be used in multiple increments, not just one.
Support for servicewomen after miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death through additional leave.
Restrictions on physical fitness and body composition standards for servicewomen for 12 months after childbirth, except for national security reasons or at their election.
Reduction of the required service commitment for the career intermission program from two months to one month.
