This act introduces the possibility of one-time bonuses for individuals who were eligible for federal unemployment benefits and then started a new job. The goal is to encourage a faster return to the labor market and provide financial support during this transition. Citizens can receive up to two payments, each of $1,212, after meeting specific employment conditions.
Key points
Individuals eligible for federal unemployment benefits may receive bonuses for starting a new job.
Two payments of $1,212 each are possible, after working 4 and 8 consecutive weeks respectively with a new employer.
Bonuses are available for those who start work with an employer they have not worked for in the preceding 6 months.
Bonus payments will not be available for periods beginning on or after July 4, 2021.
