National Institutes of Clean Energy: Investing in Green Tech and Jobs

This act establishes the National Institutes of Clean Energy to support research into green technologies and innovation. The goal is to reduce pollution, improve public health, and create new jobs, especially in communities most affected by environmental issues and job losses.
Key points
A new government agency, the National Institutes of Clean Energy, will be established as part of the Department of Energy.
The Institutes will invest in clean energy research, including demonstration projects for microgrids, energy storage, electric vehicles, and advanced energy technologies.
Priority will be given to technologies that minimize environmental and health harms in vulnerable communities, and to creating high-quality jobs.
Financial support of $400 billion is authorized for 2022-2031 to establish and operate the Institutes.
