Protecting Political Donations: Ending Automatic Contributions Without Consent

New rules aim to protect citizens from unknowingly making recurring contributions to political campaigns. Companies and political committees will not be able to collect recurring donations unless the donor gives explicit consent, for example, by unchecking a pre-checked box. The law also requires informing donors about each subsequent payment and makes it easier to cancel recurring donations.
Key points
No more automatic, recurring political contributions without explicit donor consent.
Prohibition of pre-checked boxes that automatically activate recurring donations.
Requirement to inform donors about each subsequent payment and facilitate cancellation of recurring donations.
Greater citizen control over their finances when supporting election campaigns.
