Protecting Domestic Produce from Unfair Trade Practices

This act aims to strengthen the protection of American agricultural producers, especially those operating seasonally, against unfair trade practices like dumping and subsidies. The new rules will make it easier for them to assert their rights and protect their markets, potentially leading to stable prices and availability of local produce.
Key points
Introduces the definition of a "core seasonal industry" in agriculture, allowing for better adaptation of regulations to the specifics of seasonal production.
Facilitates agricultural producers in filing petitions for investigations into unfair trade practices by lowering the required industry support threshold.
Allows for the application of anti-dumping and countervailing duties to be limited to specific seasons when unfair practices occur, rather than year-round.
Extends the application of these changes to goods from Canada and Mexico, in accordance with the USMCA trade agreement.
