Increased Flexibility for Public Transportation Security Funds

This act aims to enhance public transportation security by providing more flexibility in how funds for training and projects are spent. This means money allocated for passenger and infrastructure protection can be used more effectively and for longer periods, potentially leading to safer commutes for all citizens.
Key points
Funds for public transportation security training can now also cover the costs of backfilling employees attending these trainings.
The period for which public transportation security grant funds are available has been extended to at least 36 months, and in some cases up to 55 months, allowing more time for project implementation.
A review of the grant program will be conducted to assess how effectively funds are used and how public transportation security can be improved.
