Protecting Election Workers and Voters: New Federal Election Security Rules.

This act introduces new rules to protect federal election workers and voters. It increases penalties for harassing election workers and makes it harder to remove local election administrators without proper cause. Additionally, it sets limits on challenging voter eligibility to ensure smoother voting processes.
Key points
Harassing election workers (officials, poll workers, volunteers) becomes a federal crime, punishable by up to $100,000 fine or 5 years in prison.
Local election administrators can only be removed for specific reasons (inefficiency, neglect of duty, malfeasance), protecting them from political pressure.
Citizens can challenge voter eligibility only based on personal knowledge and under oath, and such challenges cannot be made on Election Day or shortly before, unless for newly registered voters.
Poll observers must maintain at least 8 feet (about 2.4 meters) distance from voters and ballots at polling locations.
