Medicare Expansion: Dental, Vision, and Hearing Benefits Act

This bill aims to expand Medicare to include new health benefits. If passed, citizens covered by Medicare will gain access to dental, vision, and hearing care, potentially significantly reducing their out-of-pocket expenses for these services. The changes will be implemented gradually, with varying coverage levels depending on the type of service and the year.
Key points
Medicare will begin covering basic and major dental services, including exams, cleanings, fillings, root canals, and extractions, as well as dentures.
The program will cover routine eye exams, eyeglasses, contact lenses, and low vision devices.
Coverage will be extended to include routine hearing exams and hearing aids.
Most services will be covered at 80%, but preventive services (e.g., dental cleanings) will be 100% covered from 2022, and for low-income individuals, other services will also be 80% covered from 2023.
Frequency limits will be introduced for some services, such as two dental cleanings and two eye exams per year, and one hearing aid per ear every 48 months.
