Veteran Support: Improved Access to Benefits and Assistance

This act aims to improve access for veterans, their spouses, children, and parents to information about available benefits and programs. Through grants to states and Indian Tribes, veterans will more easily receive assistance in preparing and submitting benefit claims, facilitating their access to entitled rights.
Key points
Increased veteran support: States and Indian Tribes will receive funding for outreach and assistance programs for veterans and their families.
Easier access to benefits: Grants will help veterans get professional assistance with filing benefit claims.
Priority for those in need: Support will first go to areas with a shortage of veteran service officers and high veteran suicide rates.
More service officers: The act allows for hiring new county and Tribal veteran service officers, increasing access to help.
