Improved Repayment of Misused Veterans' Benefits

This bill aims to protect veterans' benefits. If a person managing a veteran's money (fiduciary) misuses it, the Department of Veterans Affairs will be required to repay those funds to the veteran. The law ensures veterans receive their due funds, even if misuse occurred.
Key points
The Department of Veterans Affairs must repay veterans if their benefits are misused by a fiduciary.
The Department will try to recover the funds from the fiduciary, but the veteran will still receive repayment.
The bill requires the Department to assess if misuse was due to its own negligence.
