Medicare: New Dental and Oral Health Benefits from 2025

This act introduces new dental and oral health benefits to the Medicare program, starting in 2025. It will cover preventive care, basic treatments, and gradually expand to more complex procedures, as well as dentures. The aim is to improve access to dental care for Medicare beneficiaries.
Key points
Starting in 2025, Medicare will cover basic dental services like oral exams, cleanings, X-rays, and fluoride treatments.
More complex procedures, including fillings, extractions, gum disease treatment, bridges, crowns, and root canals, will be gradually introduced.
Medicare will cover the cost of full or partial dentures once every 5 years, beginning January 1, 2025.
Preventive and basic treatments will be covered at 80%, while coverage for major treatments will gradually increase from 10% in 2025 to 50% in 2029 and subsequent years.
