Reducing Workweek to 32 Hours: New Overtime Rules

This bill proposes to reduce the standard workweek from 40 to 32 hours. This means that after working more than 32 hours in a week, employees would be entitled to higher overtime pay. These changes will be phased in over three years.
Key points
The standard workweek will be reduced from 40 to 32 hours.
Work exceeding 32 hours per week will be compensated at least 1.5 times the regular rate.
Work exceeding 8 hours per day will be compensated at least 1.5 times, and over 12 hours per day at least double the regular rate.
Changes will be phased in: 38 hours in the first year, 36 in the second, 34 in the third, and finally 32 hours after three years.
